Appointment Support
Appointment Support
If your carer is unable to accompany you to an appointment, you can organise for your preferred SOUTS Support Worker to accompany you.
Our Support Workers normally wait outside for you or if you prefer, your Support Worker can attend the appointment with you. They can take notes which will then be provided to you or your carer. If you need, your Support Worker can help to promote communication between yourself and the doctor. Before the appointment your Support Worker can help you to develop notes to take with you, including questions and important information you wish to convey to the doctor. If you choose you can provide a copy of your questions and notes to the physician to ensure that the information and questions are addressed.
Our SOUTS Support Workers CAN NOT provide you with medical advice or decision making. They will support you with communication and documenting what you need.
